Golf’s Golden Age in Wisconsin
Lawsonia Links is one of the purest expressions of Golden Age architecture still standing. Built in 1930 by Langford and Moreau, the course is famous for its bold earthworks, elevated greens, and strategic puzzles that somehow feel both old world and ahead of its time. It is a course that rewards imagination, curiosity, and a little fearlessness.
This Classic drops you into the heart of Wisconsin golf, where the architecture speaks loud enough that you’ll replay shots in your head long after the round is over.

WHY LAWSONIA LINKS?
Lawsonia Links has quietly been one of the best courses in America for decades. Built in 1930 by William Langford and Theodore Moreau, it’s a study in bold greens, dramatic land movement, and Golden Age brilliance. The architecture is big, the vibe is pure Midwest.

WHAT MAKES THIS ROUND A CLASSIC?
Lawsonia is one of those courses that flips a switch in your golf brain. Shots you would never even consider at home suddenly make perfect sense. Greens sit high above you. Run-up shots become weapons. Every hole asks for a plan and then dares you to change your mind halfway down the fairway.
You can expect a day of bold angles, creative recoveries, and the kind of architectural storytelling that Golden Age golf is known for. Add in a group of RGC Members experiencing it with you for the first time and you get a Classic you will think about long after you have driven out of Green Lake.

THE HISTORY
Lawsonia Links is a master class in manufactured landforms. Langford and Moreau shaped the property with steamshovels to create towering green pads, deep falloffs, and dramatic bunkering that define every approach shot. The course looks rugged, but the strategy is surprisingly subtle. Take the bold line and you can score. Miss in the wrong place and you are scrambling for bogey.
From the iconic boxcar buried under the par-three seventh green to the sweeping fairways framed by native grasses, Lawsonia blends history, character, and strategy in a way that very few courses ever have.
It is beloved for good reason.
